Brief biography of Sara Madsen
Sara studied flute performance at the North Carolina School of the Arts, USA, and the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark as well as musicology at the University of Copenhagen. In 2004 she decided to leave the field of music to study Engineering. Sara received her bachelor in biomedical engineering in 2007 and her masters in Acoustic Engineering in 2010 both from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). She was especially interested in human hearing and carried out her master thesis project in the Center for Applied Hearing Research (CAHR). This project was concerned with how the use of different SNR estimation methods affected the accuracy of auditory brainstem amplitude and latency estimates.
In her PhD Sara will look at how hearing impairment and the use of different hearing aid algorithms affect music perception.
